Interview with a Legend:
The 1982
Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40
Interviewer:
Thanks for joining us today. For those who may not know you,
could you introduce yourself?
BJ40:
Name’s Land Cruiser. BJ40 model. Born in 82'.
Diesel-powered. Built in Japan. I specialize in climbing
mountains, crossing rivers, and getting people home when the
road disappears.
Interviewer:
You’ve been around a while. How are you still running so
strong?
BJ40:
Simple diet. Diesel fuel. Fresh oil now and then. No
complicated electronics, no drama — just solid steel and
stubborn engineering.
Interviewer:
Modern vehicles have touch screens, cameras, sensors… do you
feel outdated?
BJ40:
Touch screens? I have touch-anything-and-fix-it mechanics.
My dashboard tells you what matters. Speed. Fuel.
Temperature. The rest? That’s what your eyes and common
sense are for.
Interviewer:
What’s your favorite terrain?
BJ40:
Mud. Rocks. Mountain trails. Dirt roads that look like
suggestions rather than roads. Basically anywhere a SUVs get
nervous.
Interviewer:
What do drivers usually say after taking you out for a
drive?
BJ40:
Usually something like: “Wow… they really don’t build them
like this anymore.”
Interviewer:
If you had a motto, what would it be?
BJ40:
“Go anywhere. Fix anywhere. Keep going.”
Interviewer:
Any final words for the world?
BJ40:
Sure.
If you want leather seats and mood lighting, buy a luxury
car. If you want a vehicle that treats mountains like speed
bumps, well… You know where to find me.
